EcoCARE strives to participate in the development of Pacific communities through a process of consultation and collaboration. We consult with communities to better understand their needs and then collaborate with organisations and people in the highest levels of Pacific governance to create effective and sustainable programmes to address these needs. In this way, EcoCARE can help build capacity that empowers Pacific communities to contribute to their development in a meaningful way.
Our principles are to:
- Acknowledge, respect and honor the culture and unique qualities of Pacific Island communities, and to support processes that protect and maintain the integrity of these unique qualities.
- Be of service to Pacific Island communities in ways that are deemed appropriate by local communities and their governing bodies.
- Identify and support processes and sustainable development that promotes the health and well-being of Pacific Island communities and their environments.
