Summary

On April 6 2020 Tropical Cyclone Harold struck the Northern Islands of Vanuatu. The damage caused by this cyclone was severe, with over 80% of buildings and infrastructure damaged across islands in the northern region. The cyclone came at a very inopportune time with COVID-19 meaning international aid and response personnel have not been allowed unrestricted access to Vanuatu to assist with the immediate recovery. EcoCARE Pacific Trust are currently underway with a project that aims to support the medium-long term relief of Vanuatu through the delivery of much needed hardware such as: desks, chairs, stationary, potentially computers and other educational resources. EcoCARE is currently gathering resources in the form of educational equipment like those listed above, and funds to help towards the shipping costs of these resources from New Zealand to Vanuatu.
